Incredibly moving depiction of a wasted life
The story of India Bridge and her three children and life in upper-middle class Kansas City at the dawn of WWII. Her story is told in over 100 short vignettes that evoke the sadness and depletion and occasional joy of her life that has no purpose of than to look good for her husband, manage the servants, and go to the club.
One of the most ironically perfect endings to a novel.
